About me

Wellness Educator, Keynote Speaker and Practitioner

Jo Surkitt is a Wellness Educator, Positive Change Facilitator, Keynote Speaker, Retreat Leader and Holistic Health Practitioner with more than 25 years of experience helping people create healthier, happier and more fulfilling lives.

At the heart of Jo’s work is a simple but powerful belief: positive change is possible when people are given the right knowledge, support and practical tools to understand themselves, improve their wellbeing and make choices that truly support the life they want to live.

Jo’s journey into wellness began in the 1990s while working in the fast-paced travel and tourism industry. Long hours, extensive travel and the demands of a busy lifestyle eventually coincided with a series of significant health challenges, including Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Bilharzia and Bell’s Palsy. When conventional approaches alone were not providing the answers she needed, Jo began exploring the connection between the body, mind, nervous system, lifestyle and overall wellbeing.

Through education, lifestyle and nutritional changes, holistic therapies and a deeper understanding of her own body, Jo was able to significantly improve her health. This personal journey of healing and self-discovery became the foundation of her life’s work and gave her a genuine understanding of what it can feel like to be overwhelmed, exhausted, disconnected from yourself or unsure of how to move forward.

Since 2000, Jo has worked with individuals, businesses, corporations, schools, healthcare and community organisations across Australia. Her work spans personal and professional development, nervous system regulation, hormonal health and menopause, sleep optimisation, stress and burnout, mindfulness, positive psychology, resilience, emotional intelligence, neurodiversity, leadership and holistic wellbeing.

Jo’s strength lies in her ability to bring together evidence-informed education with holistic and experiential practices. Her approach is practical, warm and deeply personalised, drawing on a diverse range of modalities including nervous system and brain regulation, somatic practices, holistic counselling, mindfulness and meditation, movement, sound healing, reflexology and energy healing.

Whether working with someone individually in her wellness clinic, facilitating a retreat, delivering a keynote or supporting an organisation, Jo’s focus is always on creating meaningful and sustainable change. She helps people better understand what is happening within their body and mind, identify what may be holding them back and develop realistic strategies to improve their energy, resilience, health and overall quality of life.

For many years, Jo has also designed and facilitated retreats and wellbeing programs for carers, people managing long-term health conditions and disabilities, and neurodiverse individuals.

A lifelong traveller with a background in tourism, Jo has visited more than 56 countries, learning from different cultures and exploring diverse approaches to health, healing and wellbeing—from communities in Africa and traditional healers in Peru to natural medicine and wellness practices throughout Europe. These experiences have helped shape her open-minded, integrative approach to wellbeing and her belief that there is no single pathway to living well.

After co-owning a natural therapies college and clinic in Melbourne, Jo moved to Victoria’s Surf Coast in 2006, where she continues to work with individuals, groups and organisations through her clinic, retreats, workshops and speaking engagements.

Today, Jo’s purpose is to inspire positive change and empower people with the knowledge, strategies and support to feel more balanced, resilient and connected—to themselves, their health and the life they want to create.

Because wellbeing is not about being perfect. It is about understanding yourself, making choices that support you and having the tools to navigate life with greater health, confidence and possibility.
